My Kind of Fundraiser

Sunday was one of those rare, perfect days. The Sopranos had a strong, compelling, penultimate episode. I got to sleep in (always a plus). And in between? A day of roast pork and craft beer.

Some argue that he Slow Food Society may well be the Scientologists of the food world. That may or may not be true, they have some good ideas, and some ideas that leave me scratching my folicle deprived dome. But, they had their annual fundraiser at Yard's Brewery in Philadelphia, in the form of a pig roast. For $35, I got to eat all the roast pork and sides that I could (the coleslaw was a letdown compared to my mother's version, but that is often the case). This was washed down by a variety of tasty beers. The porter was quite good, as was the Philly Pale Ale. The champ, though, has to be their Tavern Ale. Treat yourself to a pint if you ever happen to see it while out.
