Just a heads up, the Senate's Appropriations Committee blocked an amendment that would have ended a moratorium on shale oil development in Colorado.

So to sum up, our oil policy is:

1) Don't drill in ANWR.
2) Don't drill in the Gulf, even though Cuba and China are.
3) Stymie development of shale oil domestically, and that which comes from Canada.
4) Don't review tax policy as it relates to oil prices and the economy.
5) Don't add any refining capacity.
6) Don't standardize a more narrow band of oil grades.

If one's goal was to lessen any chance we have at energy independence, this would be a good start.
