Knocked Up

My wife and I got a chance to see this one on Friday night. The movie is quick, funny, and the same brand of comedy one would expect from the 40 Year Old Virgin crew. Definitely worth the price of admission, but if you are recently married or engaged, learn from my mistakes, see it with male friends.

My lack of foresight sometimes astounds me. The title says it all, and yet I found myself face to face with a biological clock that managed to surprise me. Guys know not to bring some dates to weddings because of the inevitable uncomfortable conversation. Yet, almost a year after getting married, I failed to anticipate the obvious. It's a wonder I can dress myself. Christ, not seeing the consequences of a movie like this is being surprised by gravity.

So, with that warning out of the way, check this one out. It's a good escape from the Curse of the Third Installment that is so common this year. As for myself, I have to start learning to fake it. Excuse me.

My Kind of Fundraiser

Sunday was one of those rare, perfect days. The Sopranos had a strong, compelling, penultimate episode. I got to sleep in (always a plus). And in between? A day of roast pork and craft beer.

Some argue that he Slow Food Society may well be the Scientologists of the food world. That may or may not be true, they have some good ideas, and some ideas that leave me scratching my folicle deprived dome. But, they had their annual fundraiser at Yard's Brewery in Philadelphia, in the form of a pig roast. For $35, I got to eat all the roast pork and sides that I could (the coleslaw was a letdown compared to my mother's version, but that is often the case). This was washed down by a variety of tasty beers. The porter was quite good, as was the Philly Pale Ale. The champ, though, has to be their Tavern Ale. Treat yourself to a pint if you ever happen to see it while out.

Back yet again

Blogging is really much easier when one has a working computer. As ever, my apologies for the lack of content of late. I now have a brand new AMD Core Duo 5600 with a 500GB HD and 4GB of RAM.

There are many fun little things on the horizon. A return to Atkins for a rotund blogger, the Phillies are approaching a record-setting 10,000 losses, football season is coming soon, a house is being rehabbed, and a wedding fast approaches.

This is looking like an interesting summer.
